Liverpool Raw Business Spotlight: Matt Murphy - Feel Supreme

1. What is your business and what raw food(s)/product(s) do you sell? What led you to do what you're doing?

My company is called Feel Supreme and our main line of the business is our raw, organic, cold pressed coconut oil. However, we've recently added a range of raw, organic wholefoods such as a selection of nuts, seeds , and different grains. Our pumpkin seeds seem to be popular sellers at the moment!

Feel Supreme was born from a dream of doing something that I love and am passionate about. From a young age, I had a keen interest in the qualities of different foods, and when I found myself in a job in which I had no desire for, I took the plunge and embarked on a 3 year naturopathic nutrition course. But not wanting to carry on in the job for a further 3 years, we started developing our own range of organic coconut oil.

2. Tell us a bit about yourself

I'd love to tell you something exciting about myself, but I think this is a fact-based interview! I'm originally from Old Swan, but moved to Huyton a couple of years ago for a better climate to grow coconuts! I'm a family man, and spend most of my free time with my soon to be wife and 2 kids (I sound so old!) but as any parent knows, hobbies take a back burner but I do actually enjoy the challenge of growing a business.

3. How did you first hear of raw food?

Like I mentioned earlier, I've always had an interest in the properties of different foods, but it was whilst studying naturopathic nutrition I realised the density of nutrients in raw food. The more a food cooks, the more nutrients are lost.

4. Tell us about your own personal health journey and what led you to what you do.

I was brought up on a diet of meat, potatoes and vegetables, but I always wanted to explore further into food. I started looking after my diet when I started training in a martial art a few years back, but my knowledge was limited to conflicting advice found on the Internet. Looking back, at that stage I was probably fit but not as healthy as I could have been. I just needed to make smarter decisions with my diet, which I have done since I studied in the field.

5. Share your favourite health tip or quote.

Purely a generalisation, but I recommend eating a balanced, wholefood meal 3 times and day with a balanced, wholefoodsnack in between each meal. If it's appropriate/ affordable, food should be from an organic source.

6. Where are you based? How can people buy your stuff?

We are based online at the moment, but there are many local shops who stock our products including Maggies Farm, Windmill, Purple Carrot and Barnett's. If anybody would like to get in touch through social media, I’d be happy to point you to your nearest stockist.

If anybody is interested in wholesale opportunities, they can email info@feelsupreme.co.uk

There are some great small, independent, family run companies in this city who work hard to supply us with good quality food. It's important to show our support for these companies to allow them to continue doing what they are doing. Their carrots may be wonky and a few pence more, but that's the price we pay for better health.
